Deep Cleaning Your Summerville Rental Home’s Bathroom

Summerville Rental Property with a Squeaky Clean BathroomOne of the nice things about first moving into a rental home is how clean everything is. A quality landlord will make it their business to thoroughly clean each room of the home before move-in day. From the kitchen to the bathrooms, they would all get a good cleaning. However, since time and daily use does affect all rooms, even bathrooms will need a good deep cleaning despite it being kept tidy week to week. To keep your Summerville rental home’s bathrooms sanitary and in good working order, you’ll need to do some deep cleaning tasks every few months. This way, your bathrooms will be kept sparkling clean.

The possible areas that will need deep cleaning the most are your tub, shower, and showerhead. Every one of these needs to be deep cleaned regularly to remove residue buildup and water spots. One of the simplest ways to clean any bathroom surface is by mixing a few drops of white vinegar with a cup of baking soda to make a paste. Spread the mixture over the tub or shower door and let it sit for an hour. This gives time for the mixture to do the work. After an hour, wipe and rinse clean. For shower walls, try spraying them with an all-purpose cleaner then let the hot water run until the shower fills with steam. Close the shower door and let the cleaner sit for about twenty minutes, then wipe down with a wet sponge or cloth.

Vinegar works great on sinks and showerheads, too. To clean a sink with vinegar, all you need to do is pour out a small amount, scrub, and flush with hot water. To clean a showerhead with white vinegar, fill a bag with it and then place the bag over the showerhead so that the entire fixture is soaking in the vinegar. Secure it well with a rubber band or twist-tie and let sit overnight. The next morning, remove the bag and wipe the showerhead clean.

Another part of the bathroom that should go through regular deep cleaning is the toilet. Despite there being many different toilet cleaners on the market, the most effective method to really deep clean a toilet is still using baking soda. Simply pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl and let sit for about five minutes. Brush thoroughly with a toilet brush. When you’re done, flush the toilet to rinse.

If your rental home’s bathroom has tile, it will be necessary to deep clean the grout avoid bacterial growth. Bleach and a grout brush are the best ways to lighten discolored grout lines and kill anything trying to grow between your tile. To really keep grout watertight, don’t forget to reseal it every six months or so to keep moisture and bacteria out. Bleach can also be used to address any mold growing in windowsills or other areas. Make the cleaning solution by mixing up one part bleach to two parts water. Use it and scrub any mold spots with a sponge.

Deep cleaning a bathroom doesn’t need to take up a lot of time and effort, but you should not forget to do it on a regular basis. Once you know the method of deep cleaning a bathroom the way the pros do it, you can easily stay on top of this important maintenance task.
